I get them all the time from hunting. Usually I don't bother picking them up because they are so common.
What are you hunting? I have gotten them from all types of different critters. Young/Scout Ogres, Haven Swamp Trolls, Shard Rock Trolls, Gargoyles, Snow Goblins, Fendryads/Swamp Trolls, etc...
You won't find them on natural critters though. Things like cougars, blood wolves, snowbeasts, small peccaries, leucros, etc... won't drop them.

Any critter that drops treasure has a chance of dropping a kort potion. In fact, I've started just plain leaving them.
If you want one in a hurry, you might try asking the elementals at the war mage guilds about it.

My understanding is you no longer NEED the potion for your talisman creation at this time. I had a few in my vault but junked them a while back. You can make talismans at this time without them.
I vaguely recall a post a LONG while back by a GM suggesting they may reinstate the use of the potions at a latter time to do "Somthing" to the talisman but they are no longer a MUST to make your talisman.

That was regarding Belradi potions, which used to be required to carve a large talisman (I think? I never had a large talisman, so I'm not entirely sure.). They are indeed slated to be part of the new familiar system, although what they'll do is not yet set in stone.
Kort potions were once used as 'familiar juice' for fir familiars as a form of upkeep. This stopped... well, a good while back, and for a few years useless Kort potions just kept popping out of the treasure system. Now, however, they are definitely required, though what purpose they serve is an in-game puzzle that I won't discuss on the boards.

You should be able to purchase kort potions from the elementals in the various guildhalls assuming that they have a supply as well.

Abstract ideas and religious associations based on the elements is something those skirt-wearing Clerics and fruity Bards are more likely to play with. Real wizards play with the primal stuff. - Armifer

Kort potions again? on 01/13/2010 07:42 PM CST
>foc tali
You focus your magical senses on a leopard talisman.
The talisman is bound to you.
This is a fir talisman.
The talisman has been completely carved.
Fir talismans no longer require charges. But hold on to your Kort potions, as they will be used to enable familiar special abilities.
So, i wanted to see the messaging for identifying talismans, and I get this..... So there's a reason to keep Kort potions, eh? I'm curious what it is
