Do you think you could lift the requirement for it to be a creature which normally drops loot? Maybe a celpeze or an armadillo could have eaten one of the parts on accident thinking it was food, and when they decay away the item is left :P

<<Are celps counted among creatures who will be carrying parts? They occasionally drop ambergris.>>
If ambergris is the only thing they ever occasionally drop, then no, they're not item-dropping creatures.
<<Is wood one of the parts?>>
I think you were at the event with the Gnome where he listed all the parts, so I can't tell if this question is serious or not.
At any rate, no, wood is not one of the parts (and I'm not sure why you would think it would be).

A gnome workman spins in a circle and exclaims, "Powerhaus, so glad you're helping us out with this! No one has found any of these spangleflanges yet! A dark spangleflange is worth about 1000 tickets, but you've got fancy papers, and I think you deserve a few extra for the effort. So 2300 tickets to start you off, now hurry and find more parts!

At this point, it's probably safe to assume that only the items on the gnome workman's list are spider parts.

A number of spangleflanges, rackensprockets, and flarmencranks got loose as well. If you come across a glarmencoupler, now that's a real find! Only a few of those were lost, but they're they toughest ones to do without."

I am late to the party but whats the point of the parts and the tickets? Can someone give me a quick summary?

Re: Additional Workmen on 10/10/2011 09:38 PM CDT
quick summary:
spider from hollow's eve broke down
gnomes need parts to fix
critters that drop items now drop parts (rare)
take parts to workman (various places)
get tickets for returning parts (not physically but a counter)
different parts equal different ticket amounts
tickets equate to good stuff at fest (prizes like skeeball at chucky cheese)
tickets have no expirations so good for this fest and those to come.
tickets none transferrable
prizes are transferrable

Gotcha thanks. Is the prize going to be this year's gift or this is something entirely different?

The gift is going to be completely separate. I'm not sure what the point of collecting tickets would be if the prize was the gift, unless there were multiple levels of gift. I doubt that will happen.
>>I was wondering about this too. I've been talking to a bunch of folks in and out of gryphons all day with none found. Just like something to compare it to if at all possible. Thanks.
Not to be crass, but are they paying attention? I've been hunting gryphons all day in Shard now, and I've hunted them in Theren. It's safe to say a lot of the people hunting there are not paying attention, as they collect coins and gems by script.
I have been hunting in Shard all night and found a nut and a bolt, over the course of I would say about 3-4 hours of hunting. I might have gotten lucky, but they drop like anything else and, like anything else that isn't a coin or gem, they move into the junk pile and disappear to the janitor if you don't pick them up. If someone is not paying attention to every kill, or hasn't updated their script to include every variety of spider part, they could easily miss a part.

Entirely possible in some instances, but I've been asking friends who I knew were out there specifically for spider parts.
But like I said, I just want something to compare it to. Something ball park-ish so I don't get too discourage with my unsuccessful outings.

At this early juncture, I would say they are about as frequent as the glowing iron fragments, if that gives you a ballpark idea. They're infrequent enough that I wouldn't pull my hair out with every kill waiting for one, but on a normal day you should come across something.

Quote? I haven't heard this. And if anything, this is almost identical to fragments, and skeleton parts.
Obviously, I'm sure that if tickets are tied to the gift, there will be ways to get the tickets in the fest with ease (like the bone pile).

There is no quote. I could be mistaken, but I would be very, very surprised if you needed to get X number of tickets to "unlock" the gift. Every other time you've just gone and picked up the gift.
That is not to say that tickets aren't somehow tangentially related to the gift, just that I doubt you will need tickets to receive it.

Not really. You had to "make" a skeleton before the gift was really "the gift" and you had to collect enough fragments before your totem was really "the capped gift".
Technically you are correct. You just grabbed the totem, and you got the gem (i think that's what turned the skeleton on), but that wasn't exactly the end of it.
The last fest, you did just "grab" the gift.

Yes, exactly what I meant. It might somehow function like the totem, but I would be very surprised if you needed tickets just to get the gift. That is, at least to my understanding, what the OP was asking.
Solomon mentioned shops where you can exchange tickets, I imagine the tickets are for only that. I don't think the tickets will be related to the gift, I'm not certain what sort of "gift" would eat tickets that aren't even technically an item in your inventory. Not impossible, but I'd be surprised if the gift was something like a ticket-eating vending machine.

Re: Additional Workmen on 10/11/2011 03:35 PM CDT
apparently there was one south of TGS
[The Crossing, Lunat Shade Road]
Majestic lunat trees line this byway, donated by the town's prosperous traders, a reminder of how their Guild delights in improving the quality of life for beings all over Elanthia. One such wealthy merchant, though not as ostentatious as most, is Berolt, the dry goods dealer. His venerable general store here outfits adventurers with all the basic necessities. The row of trees on the north side of the street also serves to shade the south half of Town Green. You also see a gnome workman.
Obvious paths: north, east, south.
now there's not
